To: Guardians of dramatic children grade 5-8
We are getting a head start on Drama Club sign ups with the hopes of being able to
plan ahead for the up and coming drama club season that begins this summer.
Drama Club has opportunities year round for students. We hold various fundraising
events that are school/community centered while giving students an opportunity to take
leadership roles. The events are family friendly and help the students develop several
standards in theater education while having fun and raising money to keep our program
going.
In the Fall, we meet once a week, after school to work on various skills and contribute to
community centered events such as the Variety Show, Halloween parties, Haunted
House etc. Club time will be spent learning the variety of aspects involved in putting on
productions. It will include but it is not limited to, backstage tech work and scene
changes, acting, singing and dancing. We will also do some service projects to help
maintain the space (cleaning the stage and organizing props/costumes).
In the Winter, we put on a Musical. Auditions are the 1st week we are back from break
in January and the production dates are March 22 and 23rd. We end the year with an
overnight trip to see a Broadway show. The tentative dates for that trip are May 24 and
25th.
We have high hopes to bring back as many opportunities as possible this year. We had
a parent meeting a few weeks ago and we are moving forward with the
feedback/recommendations we received.
Thanks!
Jaimie Bernstein

I enjoy spending time with your children with whom I have a shared passion for theater,
and I am excited about the growth of the program but we all have responsibilities after
rehearsal. In order for us to continue to provide this opportunity, we cannot stay after to
supervise children, or be asked to violate school policy and leave your child
unsupervised for any portion of time.
