With a visit to The Treehouse, you’ll meet:

Andrew student taught at ABS in 2019 and then returned to the school and Treehouse team in 2022. He teaches SEL classes to each class where they learn about important personal skills such as perseverance, resilience, kindness, respect, advocation, and understanding our feelings.
Students also can have routine or temporary check-ins with Andrew where they can further solidify their skills, process difficulties in school or life, and build positive supportive relationships with more adults in the building. Andrew uses skills derived from Collaborative Problem Solving, Restorative Practice and Responsive Classroom.
Annalise: Is resident of West WIndsor, a former ABS student herself, parent of a former ABS student and a part of the SEI team for 10 years now. Annalise has training in Responsive Classroom, Trauma Informed Practices, Restorative Practices, certified Safety-Care Specialist and certified Collaborative Problem Solving parent coach through ThinkKids out of Mass General. In addition to this Annalise is Doctor Watson’s mom who has come to school in the past and is hopefully going to rejoin the Treehouse team later on this year once he has reestablished his training through Therapy Dogs of Vermont.
Ruben: Grew up in Chelsea Massachusetts studied film and tv at Boston University, came to vermont during college and started working with kids through Health Care and Rehabilitation services. I was introduced to ABS through HCRS and found a role as Social Emotional Interventionist working in 2021. I originally worked with students one on one but now primarily oversee the ⅘ class facilitation in assisting students who struggle with emotional regulation and also provide academic help.
Meaghan: I was born and raised in Thomaston, CT and studied psychology, counseling, and human services at the University of Scranton in Scranton, PA. Since 2007 I have worked primarily as an ABA Therapist and Behavioral Instructor in a variety of settings, including public schools, private schools, boarding schools, as well as in-home settings. In 2017 my husband and I followed through with our dream of moving to Vermont where we have 3 dogs, 2 horses, and a goat. I was so excited to be offered an SEI position in January of 2022, and I work primarily with K-2 classrooms. I am enthusiastic about the skills and ideas I am able to bring to ABS, as well as learning new objectives like Collaborative Problem Solving, Responsive Classroom, and Restorative Practices.
This month in SEL:
We have been working on advocating and learning from our mistakes! When faced with a problem or a need that should be met, we should follow our S.U.P.E.R. advocating process.
Stay Calm, Understand the Problem, Problem Solve, Express Yourself, Reflect.
When learning from our mistakes, we must accept the mistake (because everyone makes mistakes) and then decide if we must Fix it, Apologize, or Move on. Then when we learn where we went wrong, we try again!
